What NAT (Network Address Translation)?

Network Address Translation (NAT) is a networking technique that allows multiple devices on a private network to share a single public IP address for communication with external networks, such as the internet. NAT modifies the source or destination IP addresses of packets as they traverse a NAT-enabled router or firewall, translating private IP addresses into a single public IP address or vice versa, to route traffic between the private and public networks. NAT enables conserving public IP addresses, enhancing network security by hiding internal IP addresses, and facilitating connectivity for devices behind a NAT device.
