Rumors are circulating that Google is going to eliminate its Nexus branding with the next device. Because the numbering system is getting messed up, say the next Smartphone is Nexus 6, what will be the next smartphone then? Nexus 7 is their very own tablet, and the name clashes with itself. However, there’s a copyright issue with the name ‘Nexus 6’ as well. There’s a popular sci-fi novel from many decades ago that mentions a Nexus 6, which could lead to a copyright lawsuit against Google. Does Google really want to take that risk?
There are many rumors flying around about the next device in Google’s arsenal. But what is Google’s thought about the next Nexus device? While there are plenty of fake news and rumors populating the Google search pages; the company Google isn’t really saying anything about it. Maybe the tech nerds will have to till the second quarter of 2014 to find out the answers.

Curvy Metal Body
All Google devices that have come out ever since have had plastic bodies. Now, Google might plan to move out of it and start building metallic phones. Metal-made phones have now got another name for premium devices. Everything premium has to be made of metal, or they can’t be called premium anymore – that’s what the mindset has become these days. However, the phone might also have a stylish curve.
Newest Android Version
The new Nexus device would have the newest version of Android. This is almost confirmed because that’s what Google does with every new release. Their new Android versions are released through a new device launch; hopefully, there will not be an exception this time. And Android fans are eagerly awaiting the next Android version, especially Nexus device owners.
The next Android version name will probably start with an L and will be either 4.5 or 5. Time will say.
Revamped Camera
Even though the Nexus 5 camera was good, it’s not really competitive against other flagships available in the market now. Especially the Apple rival iPhone 5S camera is fantastic, Google camera isn’t really beating that camera. So it is expected that the Nexus developers would emphasize on the camera feature more in the upcoming version. Expect to have a blast.
More Power to Keep Running
Battery is an issue for higher-powered smartphones. Carrying a large screen brick in a pocket is useless; nor is it going to feel ‘premium’ anymore. So, with the bump in configuration, the battery capacity has to increase as well. Google might include a battery of more than 3200 mAh in order to power a powerful enough device. Also, a groundbreaking power-saving feature like the one included in the Samsung Galaxy S5 would be much appreciated.
Jaw-Dropping Smart Features
Every smartphone now is released with some surprising new features. Heartbeat sensors, fingerprint-based security, and 64-bit processing in smartphones were the surprises from the last year. There haven’t been any such surprises in the Nexus line for long; let’s hope there will be one soon.
Conclusion
Given that Google has always satisfied Android fans, they will not fail this time either. Let’s keep waiting for the Nexus flagship in 2014; till then, keep an eye on the rumors.
