What is a botnet?

A Botnet is a network of compromised computers, servers, or internet-connected devices (bots) infected with malicious software (malware) . Controlled remotely by a central command and control (C&C) server operated by cybercriminals or hackers, attackers use botnets for various malicious activities. These activities include distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, spam email campaigns, malware distribution, information theft, cryptocurrency mining, and click fraud.
